October 18, 2017— *** Citrix & RDS License Server Upgrade ***
Summary
Starting the week of October 23, 2017 the existing NetGIL servers for all ITC hosted Citrix farms will be configured to use the new Windows 2016 Citrix / Microsoft RDS License server located in San Ramon. This change will be open through October 27, 2017 to allow for the change to be made to all farms.
This change is being made to migrate the current Citrix and Microsoft RDS license server to a Windows 2016 server to prepare for the new NetGIL 7 environment which will be hosted on Windows Server 2016. This change also addresses future XenApp version requirements to be deployed at Chevron.
Why am I receiving this?
We would like you to be aware of these change so that you may plan accordingly.
What action do I need to take?
No action is required since the new license server will be reconfigured to use the existing IP address of the current Citrix & RDS license server.
However, users may receive an error when launching a Citrix published application and/or desktop that states “

“Unable to contact Citrix License server”. If either or both error messages are displayed then the first step needed will be to reboot the server. If the issue persists please open a Remedy INC if you experience Citrix or RDS licensing issues following the upgrade.
PLEASE NOTE: In the event of a technical issue during the upgrade, each NetGIL server will become a temporary Citrix & RDS license server and will issue temporary licenses for 60 days for Citrix and 120 days for RDS before Citrix and RDP connections will be completely denied.

July 25, 2017— *** NetGIL Franchise Patch Update for Office 365 ***
In partnership with Chevron IRSM Vulnerability Management, this announcement is being sent to ChevronTexaco NetGIL Franchise Administrators and server owners. Please forward as appropriate.
This is a requirement for all NetGIL Franchise Servers with Office 365 installed.
Summary
In order to continue the process of streamlining O365 patching on NetGIL servers, DCA has aligned themselves closely with the GIL desktop O365 patching process. Due to Microsoft’s servicing model for Office 365, it cannot be patched via SCCM at this time. The interim solution is to install AIRID 81189 – “Microsoft Office 365 - Version Patch on Demand” until patching capabilities for Office 365 can be incorporated into SCCM.
What action do I need to take?
Open the GIL Server Options Panel (GOP) from your NetGIL Franchise server.
Search for AIRID 81189 – “Microsoft Office 365 - Version Patch on Demand” and install the package, following the on-screen instructions – OR – go to the GOP and select System Check and browse NetGIL 2008R2 XenApp 6.5 Optional updates and install AIRID 81189.
NOTE: Server reboot(s) may be required following update installation depending on how up-to-date your Office 365 installation is.
Special Instructions: Until further notice, this package is required to be installed on a MONTHLY basis. You will need to re-install this Office 365 “update check” package once per month, even though the package shows as installed in the GOP. DCA AHS NetGIL Team recommends to plan the update process during your existing application maintenance window to minimize downtime.

June 7, 2017— *** Houston NetGIL 6.5 Farms Ending Access from Houston & San Antonio Legacy Web Interface ***
Summary
Effective August 1, 2017 July 3, 2017 a change will be implemented to remove all access to NetGIL 6.5 farms from any and all Houston Legacy and San Antonio Legacy Citrix Web Interface servers. With this change, NetGIL 6.5 farms will only be accessible via Houston and San Antonio NetScalers.
What to expect
The way that you interact with the NetGIL platform has been simplified and improved with Citrix Storefront’s “app store” like presentation of applications. This user-friendly interface replaces the legacy Web Interface which is no longer supported. Simply login to NetGIL via the
http://netgil.chevron.com landing page and select the pulldown for the site closest to your applications (currently NADC and Houston are available.)
The NetScaler Storefront ‘look and feel’ will be different from the Web Interface you are accustomed to. Reference this document for more information.
The change will implement better security and alignment with vendor support. The Web Interface has reached end of life and Chevron is no longer receiving support or patches for this product. This change will also allow DCA to reduce the web interface footprint that is currently deployed.
What action do I need to take?
If you are using any Houston or San Antonio Legacy NetGIL Web Interface Development or Production Sites to access your NetGIL 6.5 applications such as (but not limited to):
https://netgilsb-dev-san520.chevron.com
http://netgilwi-dev-san520.chevron.com

http://netgilwi-san520.chevron.com
https://netgilsb-dev-hou150.chevron.com
http://netgilwi-dev-hou150.chevron.com
Do the following:

June 1, 2017— *** NetGIL Franchise Microsoft Office 2010 compliance update to SP2 ***
Summary
Chevron Office 2010 Support Changes are rapidly approaching (desktop & server):
1) CVX support (GIL) of Office 2010 ends on June 30th. After that date, support for NetGIL Office 2010 SP2 problems will need to come from Microsoft directly. Patch availability for Office 2010 SP2 will not be affected, however the product is on Microsoft extended support only (no new enhancements.)
2) NetGIL Franchise Application owners have the option (and are highly encouraged) to Install O365 and test in your DEV environment immediately. Alternatively, you can completely un-install Microsoft Office if your application does not require it (Cost savings for Chevron!) AIRID 81357 can be used for Office 365 de-installation, and AIRID 81352 can be used for Office 2010 de-installation.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Installing Office 365 un-installs Office 2010. AIRID 80697 is available on the Server Options panel.
Each Franchise Application support team is responsible for confirming application compatibility with your app vendor or developer prior to installing Office 365.
Each Franchise Application support team is responsible for installing new Office 2010 SP2 or O365 patches each month and conducting sufficient application testing for any applications with Office integrations.
3) As of June 1st, 2017, DCA has made available an Office 2010 SP2 level-set patch collection via-SCCM 2012. These patches are REQUIRED for download/install/test starting with NetGIL DEV. IRSM in partnership with DCA will be following up with NetGIL Franchise server owners beginning in June/July and Archer exceptions will need to be filed if you cannot patch and/or move to O365.
4) Backout Plan: If you install O365 and experience issues related to your Franchise application, you can uninstall and re-install your previous version of Office 2010 (SP1 with AIRID 74541 and SP2 with AIRID 77023.) However, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to take a VM snapshot or backup of your DEV system before making any changes in the event you must rollback to Office 2010. Note: Office 2010 SP1 is EOL by Microsoft. You must get to the Office 2010 SP2 level-set patch collection level to be compliant.
What action do I need to take?
1) If your Franchise application does not require Microsoft Office, please de-install the package with AIRID 81357. All future Office patch requirements can be disregarded.
2) For Information regarding Office 365 on NetGIL Franchise, please review the below SharePoint link
MS Office 365 / 2010 Update (Chevron Internal Link Only)
3) To install the *required* NetGIL Office 2010 SP2 level-set patch collection, please plan a 3-hour patch window per NetGIL Franchise server (~3 reboots will be required.)
4) Visit the Windows “Software Center” on your Franchise server to review and install Office 2010 SP2 updates.
5) Develop a monthly CAT test plan for your NetGIL Franchise server that enables you to regularly test Microsoft Server OS, Office, utility, and security patch changes from Microsoft with your Franchise application.
If you have any questions, please contact a NetGIL SME.
Thank you for your cooperation.
